The Gospel of Great Joy
In Luke 2.8-20, we see that the good news of Jesus’ arrival is a gospel of great joy. it’s meant to lead us to rejoicing that overflows into every area of our lives, including in our relationships with unbelievers. In this sermon there are two main ideas that we highlight: 1) Good News (8-12) and 2) Great Joy (13-20).
The Joyful Hope Suffering Produces
We take a break from 1 Timothy as one of our partners, Pastor Evan Calvin from Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville Kentucky preaches from Romans 5.1-6. In this text we find two fountainheads of joy and hope for your soul: 1) the fountain head of our Secure Standing, 2) the fountain head of our Suffering.
Anchored in Joy
This world is full of suffering and sorrow and there are all kinds of false hopes and lesser joys that will continually let us down.
But the hope of the Christian is unshakable unending joy in God. And if Christians are going to live wisely in God’s world under God’s rule, our hearts must be anchored in that joy.
